Aaah! Singing on Sunday

I almost forgot that I have a solo to sing this coming Sunday. I really want to do a good job, so I need to pick a song out soon. My accompanist (who is fantastic) lives 4 houses away from me, so that's already taken care of. I prefer singing hymns, though my ward doesn't mind people singing songs from other sources.

I have NO IDEA what this Sunday's theme is. Pretty sad, since I'm the chorister!

What suggestions do you have for a song? Thanks so much!

I really love "praise to the lord the almighty" it's taken almost straight from psalms an dI think it would go pretty well with any theme. :) It's not sung very often, but it's such a cool song. :)

I'm also a big fan of 'be still my soul' but it's better with the harmony, so I wouldn't do it solo.

I just sang Sally DeFord's "Come thou Fount of Every Blessing" You can get it free online, its easy, and beautiful.
Good luck! You'll do great

What's the topic?

May favorite solo to sing is "Perfect Love"...I used to sing it every time I was asked to sing, but then somebody else in the ward starting singing it whenever THEY were asked to sing - so I stopped singing it.

Anyway, I could bring the sheet music tomorrow night if you want - if you're coming...

Also, my mom basically has an LDS Music library at her house if you wanted to come over and check it out...

How about "Amazing Grace" and put some soul in it like this.

Kelly N., I think I may just take you up on that offer! Thanks! I'd better hop to it, since I have to have all the deets ironed out by Thursday for the program. Let me know when, and I'll be over (with the girls, of course).

Kelly W., our choir just sang "Come thou Font" earlier this year. It is a very popular hymn in our ward. But maybe it was several months ago, I'm not sure. There is also a version that uses alternative lyrics to the same hymn.

Brightonwoman-- I LOOOOOVE that hymn! I just sang it, and the only problem is that I end up breathless toward the end because the timing is kinda funky in that one. Do you know if there are any arrangements for this one on the web?

Raphael-- I love "Amazing Grace." It's so beautiful. But I don't know if I have much soul in me! I'm kind of an opera singer wanna be.
